EMESRT to host ISO meetings in Brisbane

In early 2017, the EMESRT Advisory Group offered to host the ISO 21815 Collision awareness and avoidance JWG 28 meeting scheduled for July in Brisbane. The offer was accepted by the Convenor (Yukari Oka) in March.  Last week, Standards Australia fully supported EMESRT hosting the meeting.

Most ISO meetings are held co-jointly with other working groups to reduce the amount of international travel.  The Brisbane meetings schedule is as follows:

  1. The Meetings of ISO TC 127 Earth moving machinery, SC 2 Safety, ergonomics and general requirements, JWG 28 will be held 24 – 26 July 2017.
  2. The Meetings of ISO TC 127 SC 2 WG 22 Autonomous machine safety will be held 27 – 28 July 2017.

ISO 17757 is near the end of its development cycle and due for publication in November 2017.  The meeting on the 27–28 July will finalise the content before publication. Subsequently, the forward work plan for WG 22 will commence.

EMESRT has been invited to attend the meetings with delegates representing surface and underground.  A topic for discussion at the WG 22 will be: Remote control emergency stop for autonomous machines.  It will be the ideal forum for EMESRT to assess whether it could add value to the ongoing work of WG 22.
